(9/22/20) Learning from home during COVID: Let's start with routines
Participation in activities within daily home routine provides meaningful opportunities for individuals who are deafblind to learn new skills and concepts, including those included in student's IEP goals. We'll highlight ways families and educators can identify and prioritize potential home routines and activities and create meaningful, family-friendly instructional plans and guides to support this instruction.

Using object cues and calendar during distance learning
Whether learning at school or home it's important provide add structure and order and teach calendar-related concepts. You'll learn how to use object cues and easy-to-make calendar systems teach valuable both communication skills and concepts related to time and specific daily and weekly activities.
(10/06/20) Assessment made simple in the time of COVID
Four basic questions, using just 16 words, will change the way you think about assessment. We’ll give you an easy way to determine your child's/student’s strengths and interests.
(10/13/20) Behavior in the time of COVID
We’ll share a model of behavior assessment that focuses as much on you as it does on the child/student. It may give you a new perspective on what’s really important and what you can let go of.
(10/20/20) Conversations to promote interactions
Connecting with children a build trusting relationships will open the door to meaningful interactions. These interactions will help children engage in fun learning activities, lessen isolation and feel part of a group.
(10/27/20) Parent Panel
Parents will share with the group in an open and honest discussion of what has or hasn’t worked with virtual learning, how they are adapting to the new normal of distance learning, and experiences working through obstacles and added limitations to the instruction process.
(11/10/20) Making Literacy Personal with Experience Books
Experience books are personalized books that use objects that are relevant to an individual to generate interest, promote concept-building, and provide opportunities for meaningful conversation. We'll share examples of experience books and show you how to create and use experience books.
(11/17/20) Making Your Own Modifications and Accommodations while Virtual Learning
We will explain the difference between modifications and accommodations and how you can implement them during this time of COVID and virtual learning. We will share examples and give you tips on how to gain access to virtual lessons for your learner.
(12/01/20) Promoting literacy skills building at home
All children, including those with emerging communication skills, can engage and find enjoyment in daily literacy activities with other family members. Come learn about ways to promote literacy and communication skills through participation in a variety of daily shared activities using engaging materials.
(12/08/20) How to maintain social connections
During this time of COVID, social interactions are hard for everyone, and especially difficult for children who are deafblind. Parents of children with deafblindness will share strategies they use to promote social interactions between peers and family members.
